History of Firozabad Lok Sabha seat:
There are 5 assembly constituencies under the Ferozabad Lok Sabha constituency. These assembly seats are Tundla, Jasrana, Ferozabad, Shikohabad and Sirsaganj. Tundla assembly seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes. In the year 1957, Lok Sabha general elections were held for the first time in Moradabad, where Independent leader Braj Raj Singh defeated Chaudhary Raghubir Singh of the Indian National Congress, becoming the first MP of Ferozabad. There were no elections in this seat in 1962 and the term of Braj Raj Singh increased. In the elections of 1967, Shiv Charan Lal of the Joint Socialist Party became the second MP here. In 1971, Congress opened its account for the first time and Congress leader Chhatrapati Amesh was elected MP from here.
In 1991, the Bharatiya Janata Party established its dominance in the region and Lord Dayal Katheria became the MP of Ferozabad. Katheria won this Lok Sabha seat in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections and remained MP for 7 years. In 1999, Ram Ji Lal Suman contested on the ticket of Samajwadi Party and defeated Lord Dayal Katheria and became Firozabad MP. In 2009, the Samajwadi Party's current President, Akhilesh Yadav, won the Lok Sabha election here and resigned the same year and contested for Kannauj seat. Congress leader and actor Raj Babbar won the 2009 by-election.
